Four of our talented students performed in Wichita this week for the Kansas Music Educators Association (KMEA) Convention!
Layla Brost, Sam Garner, Fiona Stevenson, and Sierra Zoll were selected by audition to participate in various Band and Choir All-State ensembles. This honor recognizes outstanding musical achievement across Kansas.
They are joined by Shawnee Heights music educators and students exploring future careers in music education as part of the convention.
We are incredibly proud of these students for representing Shawnee Heights among the best young musicians in the state. 🎼👏

Current 8th-11th-grade students interested in trying out for the SHHS Thunderettes Dance Team are encouraged to attend the pre-audition clinics on February 11 and 18. These sessions are designed to help students prepare for tryouts by reviewing expectations and requirements and answering questions about what to work on leading up to tryout week.
The tryout clinic on March 10 will be when students learn the choreography they will perform at formal tryouts on March 12. Email Roberta Freeman at freemanr@usd450.net with questions. Good Luck!

The Eastern Kansas Scholastic Artwork Awards will be on exhibition at Mark Arts in Wichita, KS, at 1307 N. Rock Road from February 6 to Saturday, March 28. Galleries are open to the public 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Admission is free. The opening reception will be held on Friday, February 7, from 4 – 6 p.m., featuring live music. All are welcome!
